CBSE Exam Prep Without Burnout: A Simple Daily Routine for Students (and Parents)

Student studying with a simple daily timetable on the desk

If your child is studying hard but still feels stressed, it’s usually not a “motivation problem.” It’s a routine problem. Here’s a simple CBSE-friendly routine that works for most students—because it’s realistic.

The 30–30–10 weekday plan (70 minutes total)

30 minutes: Concept revision
Pick one chapter/topic. Revise using NCERT/class notes. Focus on understanding, not highlighting.

30 minutes: Practice writing
For Classes IX–XII especially, writing practice matters. Do one:

5 short Q&As, or
1 long answer, or
1 sample paper section

After writing, compare with textbook points and add missing keywords.

10 minutes: Teach-back
Ask your child to explain one concept in 2 minutes (to you, a sibling, or even a mirror). Teaching is the fastest way to find gaps.

Weekend upgrade (choose one)

One timed mock test, or
One full chapter revision with a mind map, or
One doubt-clearing session with teacher

How parents can help (without hovering)

Fix a study time and keep the phone away during it.
Praise effort + consistency, not only marks.
Protect sleep—sleep supports memory and attention.

When a child is falling behind

Don’t wait until exam week. Ask the school about extra help sessions, revision support, and subject-wise improvement plans. SRCS mentions individualized care and special sessions for students who need extra support—use them early.
